A minimum term (seen in relation to the album's shelf life) can be agreed upon
Shelf life= the period from the start fot the writing process until the promotion of the album is ended

Performance Clause [Termination of the Initial Period]
The artist can terminate the contract if certain criteria haven't been reached within a time frame. These criteria could, for instance, be related to sales and income or to getting a record deal.

Trial Period
At the start of an artist-manager relationship, one might start with a trial period, usually of 6 months, in order for the artist to assess the manager's abilities.
